School Direct – Teacher Training

Why train with us:

As an alliance of schools, located within the London Borough of Hillingdon and Diocese of Westminster, we are working with St Mary’s University College and have a wealth of experience and expertise; which will enable trainees to experience high quality teacher training within our schools.

We are high achieving schools which have been judged as ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’ by OfSTED.  We encourage our pupils to be thoughtful both in their approach to others and their studies, and apply these principles to all adults working within our schools, always striving to further improve our practice as educators, successfully implementing  new initiatives and sharing  good practice with others.

St Mary’s University College is our accredited provider, situated in Strawberry Hill, Twickenham in South West London. Founded in 1850, it is generally acknowledged to be the oldest Catholic College in the UK.

In 2000, St Mary’s celebrated 150 years in Education. With just under 4,000 students studying a wide range of subjects including sports, theatre directing and theology, initial teacher training accounts for a third of  the student  population. A growing number of qualified teachers undertake Masters programmes as part of their continuing professional development. In 2011, St Mary’s was deemed to be ‘outstanding’ by OfSTED during inspection.

Course tutors at St Mary’s are all skilful teachers themselves, with many years of experience in schools and higher education. Schools in the Alliance have established excellent relationships with St Mary’s, having worked in partnership for many years.
